With Guitar in hand, a pen and a pad of paper staring at me on Thursday night, I wrote a new song. I have been working on creating musical chorus' that are catchy and engaging and when the melody for my latest song "The Way" entered into my song, I was taken back and the inspiration flowed.
I have been trying to write a new song for months now and it has been become increasingly difficult. Between time and effort and just plain non-drama going on in my life, a new melody was not happening. So, I picked up my guitar and just started strumming away, creating a chord progression that was simple and then embellishing it with a vocal melody, and then http://youtu.be/SVzBsCZjU1w"The Way" was born.
The lyrcis came into existence from thinking about live, people and friends. We so often get caught up in not trying new things, chasing a dream or experiencing something new, becuase of fear. The lyrics flowed from me, as I am making it a goal of mine to inspire people to chase after what they want, work with others and let yourself shine! There are so many things about our circumstances that we cannot change, but then there are so many things we CAN change! We just have to get out there and fight!!!
So I ask you to have a listen to my raw recording of "The Way" by (yours truly) Melanie Grace
If you haven't LIKED Melanie Grace on Facebook yet, I ask you do so now! I'm trying to reach as many people I can through a good ole' thumbs up!
My favorite saying is, "Bruno makes it better".
There is nothing quite like any of Bruno's songs, when you're at the gym, doing pushups or throwing around a Kettlebell, to make you feel alive. the catchy beats, the intriguing lyrics and melodic soul. Whenever I am driving and I hear Uptown Funk, I cannot help but dance, dance, dance and sing!! So here is #1 for my Pop Songs, Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" in my Driving Around Karaoke series.
And then there's always the newly Pop-converted from Country star Taylor Swift's latest hit: "Blank Space". I have to admit, I love her new 1989 album. guilty - I know. But who can resist singing along with the stop and push melody?? When I first heard this song I swear all I heard was, "I have long list of starbucks lovers" but when I recorded my Driving Around Karaoke, I found out she really says, "I have a long list of ex lovers" Who knew?
And yes - I butchered the bridge, but hey! It's only Karaoke!
